about

Johnny Casino scoured the Australian musical landscape for his latest project - Johnny Casino and the Secrets. Casino is backed by a rotating band of musicians located in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. The players may vary (Brad Shepherd-Hoodoo Gurus, Kent Steedman-Celibate Rifles, Bill Gibson-Eastern Dark all make appearances on this record) but the basic philosophy - to invoke and celebrate the intrinsic beauty of the rock'n'roll form - is as solid as Casino's melodic rock'n'roll riffs.

May 2007 sees the release of the debut Johnny Casino and the Secrets album New Clothes Old Shoes, a further testament to Casino's enduring love of the rock'n'roll tradition. Whether it's driving down the highways that lead to the Motor City, taking a meandering journey through the cactus plants of Joshua Tree, or giving thanks at the altar of Motown, Casino refuses to sit back and follow the well worn path.

Beyond the release of the Secrets album, Casino's quest is simple and honourable - to play music anywhere and everywhere and to record the songs that just seem to keep coming thru his head.

Track Name: Everybody loves me
Everybody loves me is written by the wonderful Alejandro Escovedo.

HOW COULD I EVER LOVE YOU? (John A Spittles)

You say you see just were i am at
i believe what your talking is crap
yes it´s true i could never love you
you´d pass the time til i could find somebody new
i find it hard just lookin at you
you scratch and beg at my window sill
and it´s true i could never love you
you´ll pass the time til i can find somebody new
How could i ever love you unless i lied each time i woke up and fell outa bed
You live your life down on your knees beggin pleadin and easy to please
and it´s true i could never love you
Track Name: If you want it
IF YOU WANT IT (John A Spittles)

I got a lovin if you want it
Yeah i got a lovin if you want
I got lovin in the evening lovin late at night
lovin in the afternoon you hold on tight i´ll give you lovin if you want it

TRYING TO BE YOUR MAN (John A Spittles)
Track Name: Only a fool
ONLY A FOOL (John A Spittles)
Track Name: Nothing left to hide
NOTHING LEFT OT HIDE (John A Spittles)

All your hopes and dreams are buried in the ground
you should have know we´d never leave this town
lonely days she´d she´d cry with nothing left to hide
down down down the crooked road
ride thru the lonely streets buried in the snow
some would say we tried you and i know thats a lie
lonely days we´d cry with nothing left to hide
i am i am if nothing else i am
the one who turned you on the one who turned you down
people toss and turn desperation hides my pride
i´d go from bad to worse every time i closed my eyes
well it´s in your mouth and it´s time to swollow
it´s the truth only you know that i lied
if you look at me i aint bornt o follow
you were easy thats the reason why
she´d walk on by and never catch my eye
so what makes you think i´d ever want to try
boring at the best of times if you wondered why
and i told the lie that money could not buy
guilty or innocence i could not decide
the grass was never greener on the other side
lonely tired black and blue it was easy to claim you
a fool believed it true but i could see straight thru

Track Name: When I´m gone
WHEN I´M GONE (John A Spittles)

When im gone you´ll find somebody new
when im gone you´ll have things to do
when im gone you´ll finish off that beer
and when im gone you just move right outta here
when im gone , when im gone
Days and nights spent with you
when im gone what will you do
it wont take long to finish off this song
my time has come and i will be gone
I´ll be gone, i will be gone
the more things change the more they stay the same
i´ll make my time and never play their game
i´ll walk the walk and ill sing my song
and i found a love i found a love so strong
found a love, a love so strong
